My family has used this mortuary 5 times. All of which were great experiences for the price but a few days ago I held my brother's service there once again. Dealing with Joanna. We were charged just over $3,700. $700 more than my last brother's service which was only 5 months ago. The claim was that they are under new ownership and so prices went up. Ok, we paid the money for the service we chose. I specifically asked for the same service as my other brother 5 months prior. Joanna asked my brother what colors he wanted for the service, as if they were going to decorate the service with those colors (powder blue/silver). All the flowers except for the casket spray (which was paid for separately to another entity) were plain white. The same LV decor that is used at every service was up there. Completely different colors (red/black) Someone's tablecloth was thrown over the podium. Microphone stopped working. On the display above my brothers casket was his name, only it was spelled wrong. Here's the best part. There was no staff to assist us. They normally stand at the door and pass out the obituaries, my cousin did that. I had to go find the guy to do the slide show of videos. There's normally an officiant there to do a small ceremony where they walk back & forth with crowns and give selected family members guardian angel pins but the officiant was not there. In fact, she called me right before I reached the mortuary, to ask me why I didn't call her and tell her we had a service. Umm, you all work in the same place, no one told you that you had a service to do. Girl, we are not friends, I don't have your number. I got my family through the service by conducting it myself. I never sat down, I didn't have time to grieve as I had to run the service on my own. Leaving me with emotional distress. Every service is supposed to come with a minimal staff to assist the family and to comfort the family. We recieved no such thing. I know how the procedure goes. I did my grandmother, mother. Cousin and 2 brothers services there. I've never seen such unprofessionalism in my entire life. What should've been a beautiful memory for my family was ruined. I was told that Joanna called out sick for the day which is understandable being that she is pregnant but the staff should've been trained to take over. We shouldn't have been able to notice that she wasn't there. After completing my brothers service on my own I walked into the mortuary to find all the staff in their offices doing nothing. They tried to Usher me out because there was another family that they were doing business with. They put me on the phone with Joanna where I had to listen to her give me an attitude about me being angry. Excuse me, this is a grieving family that trusted you to do the job correctly. We were embarrassed, disgusted, and highly disappointed in the treatment we recieved. When they changed ownership, they kept the same staff and apparently they lost their compassion along the way. I wouldn't refer an enemy to this ratchet, unorganized and unprofessional facility. I will be making a call to the FTC about this and filing a lawsuit.
